through persistent communication with the support team, I have been able to resolve the problem with my Xscorch. A device which I'm informed is over a year out of warranty!
I've advised below how it was resolved in case anyone else come across such an issue.
Firstly, the problem: (possibly bricked firmware)
Xscorch dongle has a permanent green light, the mouse & wand will not connect to it. The dongle is not detected by PC when connected to the USB port. The Xbox controller will not switch on when connected through the Xscorch to the Xbox.
Although I bough my Xscorch on Ebay as a 'New' item, I now believe it may have been a customer returned item, whereby the firmware had been bricked.
Resolution to my problem was achieved by following the outlined process below:
Connect the dongle to PC with the dongle button pressed and keep the button pressed for 4 seconds once it is connected to USB. This I am informed resets the device to factory defaults.
remove the dongle from the USB port and reconnect it.
Windows should now detect the device and install drivers for it.
Once the drivers are installed, remove the dongle and reconnect again, this time holding the dongle button while connecting (release the button once inserted)
Now flash the dongle with the firmware you would like to use (in my case COD)
Remove the dongle again and reinsert it (don't press the dongle button). You should no be able to power on your mouse and wand. Hopefully they will now connect to the dongle and work as designed.
Hope this information is useful to someone as it has been to me!
Happy fraging.
